If you look at the reader schedule, you'll notice a new addition "facilitator."
With the group being as large as it is, I thought it would be a great idea to get a rotating roster of facilitators. We've got enough members and I think it'll be fun to have a different person every month.
Email me or post your name under the month of your choice. You'll lead meetings and next month it'll be someone else's turn.
The task is easy enough: lead the round table, crits, and if we have an exercise, help with that. Hey, we all want to be successful authors, right? And that means speaking at conventions and hosting workshops, so why not start getting some practice among friends?
Our philosophy is simple: fun and work, humour and support. We write all genres and in all styles and support each other by providing encouragement and helping each other develop thick skins in the face of industry rejections. We understand that as writers we must do the majority of the work ourselves and we embrace this by giving honest critiques mixed with gentle grace and lots of humour.
Thanks to Hal for volunteering to facilitate April's meeting!
ReplyDeleteI think this is a great idea but I have one little concern. We don't all have Natasha's enviable memory for names, faces, and which belong to which. I just know I'll end up saying 'And you at the corner of the table, what do you think of wot'shername's story'.
ReplyDeleteHey, as long as Wot'shername gets read and Corner Table gets a chance to critique, it's all good...Besides, the big trick is to write names down when the round table's going (I feel like Poirot would be so proud of "my leetle grey cells, mon ami."). :P
ReplyDeleteGood idea. I've signed up for August.
