Our philosophy is simple: fun and work, humour and support. We write all genres and in all styles and support each other by providing encouragement and helping each other develop thick skins in the face of industry rejections.
We understand that as writers we must do the majority of the work ourselves and we embrace this by giving honest critiques mixed with gentle grace and lots of humour.
Yeah--I just saw that, too...I guess the write-in must start at 6:30. I say come when you can. It's not a "proper" meeting, right, just all of us getting together to write and maybe get a couple of pep talks with Marty...
So, powered in rather than powering down...decided if I was going to feel all weird about the writing, I may as well feel weird AND write, right? And it worked beautifully. I'm really getting into the story--I'll have huge edits with the first part, but I feel okay about it all...
I found writing in low light (lamp) really helps me focus...what about you guys? Anyone finding a tip or trick that seems to bump the writing?
I'll likely be heading over a little earlier maybe even by 6 or so (I want to get a good seat).
As for writing environments, I pretty much work at my kitchen table all the time, so nothing special there. Sometimes I have music on, but other than that it's usually just a mug of tea (which tends to get cold a lot, so the microwave is also handy).
Just passed 900 today so far, let's see how far I get by tonight at 9.
Well I'm sitting here in the meeting, adding to this blog while everybody else is madly typing or writing Marty Chan's latest assignment. I've been writing pretty much all day, and I'm fairly certain that my eyes are about to fall out of my head. So far today if I incorporate the hour or so in the meeting I've been writing for a little over 8 hours.
It's hard to believe, but maybe it'll make up for not writing much of anything tomorrow as I'm going to be out in the lovely Alberta weather for a good chunk of the day.
